  When: Thursday, December 11, 5:30 - 10:00 am 

  Info: Meet at VBAG to carpool to the trailhead, plan on leaving at 5:30 am so we can begin snowshoeing/hiking by 6:00 am. Sno park pass required for drivers. 12 participants, including leaders. 

  Description: This 4.1 mile, 1423 foot elevation gain out and back route is consideredchallenging. We will make a slow, but steady climb to the top of the mountain, where wewill provide a warm drink (bring your favorite camping mug) and snacks as we watch thesunrise. This may be a snowshoe or a hike, depending on weather/snow levels. Ifhiking, please bring microspikes in case of ice. Also, there is no warming hut at the top,remember to bring plenty of layers to stay warm while watching the sunrise.

  Info: This year our Ski Movie Night will be held at the River Meadows Clubhouse (since SHARC does not have the ability to play a VHS tape). River Meadows is about 8 miles away. You will head up South Century Drive as if going to Wickiup Reservoir.

  Plan to arrive around 3:15 pm to secure parking and to get your water vehicle to the put in spot.  We will float at 4 for an hour or so.  Optional dinner at Greg's Grill at 5:30.  Partners invited.  Please register them for the event.

  Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe’s Holiday Lights Paddle Parade is a magical and unique holiday event that lights up the Deschutes River and the Old Mill District. This festive event and gathering combines the love of paddling with the joy of the holiday season, creating a memorable experience for participants and spectators.

  They have a crew who help the paddlers in and out of the water so we don't even get our feet wet,  and also have folks in and out of the water along the float route in the slim chance someone takes a dip.

  The very best part is the joy the paddlers bring to the spectators. There are a handful of brave souls on paddle boards, but it is primarily kayaks and canoes.  So put on your Santa hats and string some lights and decorations on your boat.

  Winter solstice hike or snowshoe across the Deschutes River

  When: Sunday, Dec. 21, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  Info: On the shortest day of the year, toast the Winter Solstice  while overlooking the Deschutes  River.  Whether this is a snowshoe, hike or spike will be a last-minute decision based on the weather. Half the group will meet at  10 a.m.  at Nancy Todd's home, 3 McKenzie Lane. The other half gathers at  10 at Debbie Baker's,  6 Golden Eagle. (She is graciously letting us use her    driveway). Please carpool if you can. 

  Description: The two groups will walk to  Cardinal Bridge and join together  at 10:15 to 10:30.  We'll hike across the river up to Elko Point, where we will welcome the return of the light. It's about  four miles round-trip from either house. This is an out-and-back hike.

  Gear:  Wear layers, sunscreen, bring poles, a snack and water.  We'll take care of the toast.

  The Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is a census of birds in the Western Hemisphere, performed annually in the early Northern-hemisphere winter by volunteer birdwatchers and administered by the National Audubon Society. The purpose is to provide population data for use in science, especially conservation biology, though many people participate for recreation.   Description:  

  What a great way to begin the new year with the first meal of the day. Wear comfy attire or your PJ's and prepare yourself for an evening of casual company and a yummy breakfast. Directions to a Sunriver address will be emailed 3-4 days prior to the event.

  The host will provide a casserole and bacon and sausage. Guests are asked to bring fruit or fruit salad, potatoes or hash browns, and biscuits or pastries or scones.

  Fat tire biking at Wanoga Snow Park

  When:  Monday, January 12, 8-10am

  Meet at 7:20 am at the Village Bar and Grill parking lot for carpool. Will leave parking lot at 7:30 am.

  Bring $3 for driver if carpooling. This site requires a Snow Park pass per vehicle. If meeting at Wanoga, the fat tire bike trailhead is on the east end across from the sledding hill.

  Description:  Beginner/Introduction to fat tire biking. Please indicate your height and we willdetermine an appropriate size bike and bring to Wanoga for you to ride. We will plan on riding a 3.5 mile loop called 3 PSI.

  Fat tire biking is really fun if the conditions are good (has to be below freezing and best soon after the trail is groomed!). If we get a lot of snow and/or warm weather around the 12th , we’ll likely reschedule!

  Gear:  Gloves, helmet (if you don’t have, we can provide), a buff or thin hat for under the helmet, warm hiking type boots, sunglasses (or clear lens glasses), layered clothing, water, snack, Snowpark pass if driving.

  The cost for “rental” of the bikes is $10. We have a limited number of small, medium and large fat tire bikes. Please indicate your height and we will confirm your spot on a first come, first serve basis.

  When:  Jan 15, 2026. Meet at 5:15 am, ready to depart to trailhead by 5:30 am

  Info:  We will meet at the Country Store (in the Village) by 5:15 am to load up and ready to depart by 5:30 am for the trailhead.  Please bring $3 for the driver.  If you want to meet us at the trailhead, we should be there by 6 am’ish. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE NOT MEETING US AT THE STORE.

  Snow Park Pass required for drivers.

  Description of event: This is a moderate snowshoe hike up to the Virginia Meisner Shelter and back down for a 3 mile roundtrip with 319 elevation gain. 

  When considering signing up for this event, please review the specifics (distance, elevation gain, trail surface, weather) to determine if this event matches your fitness level.

  Gear: Please dress accordingly for the weather that morning. Hopefully there will be good snow and we can actually snowshoe, otherwise, Yak Trax may be advisable. Along with your snowshoes, please have good footwear, layers for clothing, warm hat and gloves. We recommend poles since visibility will be limited as we head up. Also a backpack for adding/shedding layers. 

  At the shelter we will have Coffee and Muffins for everyone to enjoy as we watch the sun come up to greet us.  Please bring your own reusable coffee cupas we will not be using disposable cups.

  Trivia for those who care: Sunrise is 7:39 am.  Moonrise is 5:39 am (we should see the moonrise as we head up the trail and then watch the sun rise!).

  Come play the card game “Swooping” the nation. The game Swoop is fun, interactive and easy to learn. We will have a quick lesson and practice round, then be off and running with the object to get rid of all your cards. Once you’re hooked, you’ll want to teach others and play every day.   Annual Meeting and Celebration of Giving

  April 21, 2026 at Benham Hall, SHARC:  Doors open at 10:45 am. 

  11:00 am The SRWC Annual Meeting

  All members are encouraged to attend the SRWC Annual Meeting prior to lunch. SRWC

  President Brigitte Bourret  will present “A Year in Review” and the Nominating Committee will present the slate of officers and board members for 2025-2026 for approval by the membership. There is no cost for attending the annual meeting however we request members register in advance (use link below) so that we will have adequate seating available.

  
  

  There will be an opportunity to visit with community grant recipients and SRWC members in between the Annual Meeting and the beginning of the luncheon

  11:45 am The SRWC Celebration of Giving Luncheon

  This legacy event offers an opportunity to both make new friends and see old friends in a casual celebration of the impact SRWC has made in our community with our support of nonprofit agency's projects.  The SRWC Community Grant recipients will be on hand to thank you personally for the donation of time and money put forward to help bring positive change in south Deschutes County.

  Seating: Limited to reservations only.  *Registration starts on March 23, 2026 

  Cost: $32.  Paid in advance online.  Please reach out to programs@sunriverwomensclub.org if you need help registering.

  Reservations are due by April 15, 2026 for lunch and by April 19, 2026 for attendance only at the annual meeting.

  The Art Meets Wine in the High Desert event is coming up on May 16, 2026 at the SHARC.  The planning team will be available at this luncheon to accept donated bottles of wine valued at $20 or more for the wine wall. Last year, the wine wall generated over $2,000 for the philanthropy program!  Thank you in advance for your support.
