The first SRWC Winter Fun outing of 2021 will be at Swampy Lakes Sno-Park on Tuesday Jan 5. The forecast shows snow between now and then so the trails should be prime for snowshoeing! We plan on doing the Porcupine Snowshoe Loop which goes past the Swampy Shelter for a distance of about 4 miles, roughly 2 hours. The shelter is about halfway, and if the group wants we can check it out and take a break there. If you would like to stay and have a socially distanced tailgate gathering at the end bring a chair, bagged lunch and something warm to drink.
Winter Fun outings are limited to 8 participants and 2 leaders. The first 8 people who express interest will get the spots. After that, we will add names to a waiting list in case someone has to cancel.
Details:
- Meet at the Swampy Lakes Sno-Park parking lot at 10:00 am on Tuesday January 5. Swampy is about 20 miles from Sunriver. Head towards Mt. Bachelor on S Century Dr./Hwy 45. Take a right onto the Cascade Lakes National Scenic Byway towards Bend. Swampy is 2.5 miles ahead on your left. A Sno-Park Permit is required to be displayed in the windshield of your vehicle.
- Plan on wearing a buff, balaclava or mask that can be used to cover your nose and mouth when you are passing others on the trail or can’t socially distance from those in our group.
- Furry friends are not allowed at Swampy Sno-Park.
- Once we have you on the list to attend (or a wait list) we will be following up with another email and a few more details.
