Clear Lake-Loop Trail

4.9 miles, 239 ft elevation 

Clear Lake is a mountain lake off hwy 126 in Linn County. It has two main bodies connected by a bottleneck. The lake is primarily fed by snow runoff from nearby Mount Washington and the surrounding areas. Oregon's spring-fed Clear Lake was formed around 3,000 years ago through lava flows that ran from Sand Mountain, creating a natural dam that slowly filled with water. The forests surrounding the lake were submerged over time, remaining today in the form of trunks that extend as far as 120 feet into the water. The lake's clarity is the result of snow and ice melting from the top of surrounding mountains and filtering through 7,000-year-old lava, slowly running through underground springs before it reaches the lake.

Bring Water, snacks, lunch, hat, sunglasses, bug spray, poles (optional), sunscreen.  Also need Day parking pass required and $5 for driver.  E Faoro leads.  Meet at Village Bar & Grill parking lot at 7:30 am.  Limit to 8 hikers including leader.
