Hearty Soles Hike - Smith Rock Summit Trail

SMITH ROCK SUMMIT TRAIL listed as 7.7 mile hike with elevation gain of 1,046 feet with approx. hike time of 4 1/2 hours in Smith Rocks State Park. Meet at Holy Trinity Catholic Church off Cottonwood Rd in Sunriver at 8:00am. Anne will meet you at the parking area to arrange car pooling and Linda will be in Bend to join up and rearrange hiker seating for the 42 mile trip from SR to the Park.

Hiking time will be 4 1/2 hours depending on energy level of hikers. Bring lots of water, 2 bottles is minimum, hat, lunch and snacks, sunscreen, hiking poles highly advisable for scree and switchbacks. Though this is not a permitted hike the Park Website states no more than 15 hikers in a group. Hike limited to 15 hikers including 2 leaders. Drivers bring $5.00 for parking fee, hikers reimburse your driver for the fee and $5 for gas plus $$ for a stop after hike if all choose to do so. Hike Leaders are Linda Murphy and Anne Taylor
