Loose Cannons - Christmas Bird Count

Come enjoy friends, fun, laughter, and BIRDS while supporting the longest running citizen scientific survey in the world.

The Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is a census of birds in the Western Hemisphere, performed annually in the early Northern-hemisphere winter by volunteer birdwatchers and administered by the National Audubon Society. The purpose is to provide population data for use in science, especially conservation biology, though many people participate for recreation. Where:  Sunriver Nature Center

Time:  Morning - exact time to be announced

What to bring: 

Warm clothing suitable for standing in one spot (We even go in the snow!) including warm socks and shoes suitable for the weather/muck, binoculars, bird book or app (Merlin is free) if you have it, snack with hot drink. 

Number of participants: 12 people

Optional after event: 

There is an optional get-together afterwards, usually at the Resort Lodge, to compare lists and meet other local birders. As we get more information from the Nature Center, we’ll update the listing. Sorry, no dogs.
