Cardinal Bridge to Besson Day use area:  out and back

When: Thursday, May 30, 2024, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Meeting place, parking, arrive-by time, roll-out time, end time – We will meet on FS road 280 at the COTA Trailhead kiosk just past the Cardinal Landing Bridge in Sunriver. If you are driving to the ride, park at the lot on the canoe take-out road (see attached map) by the start of the Sun Lava trail and ride your bike to the meeting place.  The arrive-by time is 9:30 a.m. and the roll-out time is 9:45 a.m. We will end the ride back at the COTA kiosk.

Description, level, skills needed – This is an easy ride. Forest Service road 280 is a gravel road leading to the Swan Song trail. We will ride on Swan Song parallel to the Deschutes River to the short section of road leading to Besson Day use area. Expect a relaxing 30 - 45 minutes ride, a 15 minutes break for snack/water then we will return on the same route for another 30 – 45 minutes. The total distance out and back is about 5 miles on fairly level trails with about 80 foot elevation change.

What to bring: A helmet is required. Bring water and snack.
