MidSoles Hike: Fungi Foray (aka Mushroom Hunt)
When: Thursday, October 9, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Sunriver Nature Center(SNCO) parking lot. Bring $2 for driver if carpooling.
Description:
Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory (SNCO) is hosting it’s 9th Annual Fungi Fest & Mushroom Show on Saturday, October 11 – this year at the Sunriver SHARC.
In the week leading up to the main event, there are a variety of activities, including this brand-new Fungi Foray Field Trip being offered just for Sunriver Women’s Club members!
SNCO’s event partner, the Central Oregon Mushroom Club (COMC), will be leading this event. Trip leader and COMC Board Member, Anne Ehrlich, is excited to share her love of fungi with participants. She will teach us how to identify mushrooms, as well as how to collect and handle them. Please note – this area is not known for its edible mushrooms. We will be seeking a wide variety of mushrooms, all of which will be collected for Saturday’s Fungi Fest & Mushroom Show. You will go home with the thrill of adventure, photos, and new knowledge gained – but no mushrooms in hand.
The location is near Edison Snow Park and is a little steep.
There is a fee of $35 to be paid to SNCO. This is a fundraising event for SNCO and the Central Oregon Mushroom Club. We are getting a discount on the fee which is normally $50 per person.
