July 14 Hike - Big Lake to Mt. Washington Cirque

There is a time change for this hike to meet at 7:30 July 14 at Church parking lot 7:30. 10 People including myself.

This may be considered an exploratory hike but I have done it in the past both climbing Mt. Washington then in mid 90’s returning in July to hike the same route leaving PCT trail to the left then shortly going right on into the cirque below the Mtn and seeing the cirque covered entirely in blooms of Lupine. This is how I last saw it years ago.

Approx. 8.7 miles on a fairly level trail with less then 100 ft of elevation gain till we turn off left to the Climbers trail about 3 miles at that junction. Using the lower climbers trail ascend into the cirque with elevation gain about 1200-1400 ft. Will depend on how far we go into the grassy flowered meadows.

Bring lunch and snacks and a minimum of 2 liters of water. I will check for the amount before leaving.

I will bring a cooler if you want to bring a drink that’s cold when we return to the cars. Please bring $5 for the drivers gas. An ice cream stop in Sisters is a good possibility so a little cash too. I always bring my walking sticks but not needed till we hike into the cirque where we will have lunch. If not vaccinated then you will have to drive yourself or everyone in car will wear masks with windows partially down.
