#6 Hearty Soles Six Summit Challenge -  South Sister

Meet at 6:30am at the parking lot area north of Interstate Bank in the Village to park and carpool. Bring money for gas.

Alternate if smoke or road closures or permit problems:  Mt. Bachelor

Proceed cautiously on this 11.6-mile out-and-back trail starting from Devils Lake Trailhead. Generally considered a highly challenging route, it should only be attempted by experienced adventurers (a butt burner).

8-10 People. If more than 8 we will need another driver. Hike subject to obtaining Central Oregon Wilderness permits from Recreation.gov for all hikers on this trail. 

Drive time: approx. 45 minutes to trailhead

Start: 6:30 am   -   End:  6-7 pm

Hike time: 7+ hours; 11.6 miles (out and back)

Elevation: 4,986 feet gain/loss

What to bring: Lots of water/electrolytes,  hiking poles, yak tracks, hat, sunscreen, bug repellent, layer clothing, extra shoes for after, Lots of snacks and lunch.

Possible stops after only if everyone wants to stop:  The Wallow  or SR Brewing Co.
