Virginia Meisner Shelter Sunrise Snowshoe

When:  Jan 15, 2026. Meet at 5:15 am, ready to depart to trailhead by 5:30 am

Info:  We will meet at the Country Store (in the Village) by 5:15 am to load up and ready to depart by 5:30 am for the trailhead.  Please bring $3 for the driver.  If you want to meet us at the trailhead, we should be there by 6 am’ish. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE NOT MEETING US AT THE STORE.

Snow Park Pass required for drivers.

Description of event: This is a moderate snowshoe hike up to the Virginia Meisner Shelter and back down for a 3 mile roundtrip with 319 elevation gain. 

When considering signing up for this event, please review the specifics (distance, elevation gain, trail surface, weather) to determine if this event matches your fitness level.

Gear: Please dress accordingly for the weather that morning. Hopefully there will be good snow and we can actually snowshoe, otherwise, Yak Trax may be advisable. Along with your snowshoes, please have good footwear, layers for clothing, warm hat and gloves. We recommend poles since visibility will be limited as we head up. Also a backpack for adding/shedding layers. 

At the shelter we will have Coffee and Muffins for everyone to enjoy as we watch the sun come up to greet us.  Please bring your own reusable coffee cupas we will not be using disposable cups.

Trivia for those who care: Sunrise is 7:39 am.  Moonrise is 5:39 am (we should see the moonrise as we head up the trail and then watch the sun rise!).
