Burma Road Loop 

When: June 16, 7:30 am to get to Smith Rock and begin hiking about 8:30 am. Plan to return to Sunriver mid-afternoon. We can stop at Cascade Lakes Brewing in Redmond for lunch and/or a cold beverage on the way back to Sunriver if folks are interested.

Info :  Meet at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 7:30 am and plan to return to Sunriver mid-afternoon.  Please bring $3 for carpooling, Smith Rock is located at 9241 NE Crooked River Drive, Terrebonne. Oregon State Parking permits are required and can be purchased at the park.

Experience this 7.1-mile loop trail near Terrebonne, Oregon. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 3 h 18 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, mountain biking, and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring.

This loop has outstanding views of the Crooked River and the towering cliffs of volcanic rock at Smith Rock. You will start by following the river before hiking up to the top of the cliff line. Rock climbers are often spotted ascending the vertical rock faces. The paths are all well-defined and easy to follow.

When considering signing up for this event, please review the specifics (e.g. distance, elevation gain, trail surface - gravel, rocky, soft sand etc.) to determine if this event matches your fitness level.

Gear:  Burma Road is completely exposed so sunscreen is essential, bug spray, hat, water, snacks, lunch, $ for carpooling or food event afterwards, hiking poles, sturdy hiking shoes, layered clothing, personal first aid supplies, Oregon State Park parking pass (one per vehicle). Daily passes may be purchased at the park.

Hike is limited to 12 persons.
