Deschutes River Kayaking

Join us on a float of the Deschutes River for the newly established Kayak Group.  This is an easy beginner trip, as the river will float you down along with some paddling.

Where:  We will put in at Harper's Bridge and take out at the Sunriver Canoe Take Out.

When:  June 6, 2024. The float is schedule to start (paddles in) at 10 am, but please allow time for drop off and car placement at the Sunriver Canoe Take out. We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes in advance to coordinate car positioning.  Carpooling may be available and will be coordinated by the event leaders.  The approximate time will be 4-5 hours, including time for lunch and swimming.

Parking is available along Spring River Road which is about 1.5 miles from the Sunriver Country Store.  The float will end at the Sunriver Canoe Take out which is about 5 miles (a 15 minute drive) from the Sunriver Country Store.

Directions to the Sunriver Canoe Take out:  Take Beaver Drive to Circle 11, take the first exit off the roundabout to East Cascade. Stay on East Cascade until you reach National Forest Road 600 (before Circle 7), go left for approximately 1 mile until you reach the landing site and parking area. This is an unpaved road.

What to bring:   Kayak, paddles, PFD (Personal Floatation Device/life jacket  - required), whistle, hat, sunscreen, bug spray, swimsuit, water shoes/flip flops, towel, drinks/water, lunch, dry sac for storing valuables, Invasive Species permit (if kayak is over 10 feet).

This event is weather dependent, and may be cancelled at the discretion of the event leaders.

Leaders:  Sherri Serfling, herzog199@hotmail.com  and Sharon Martin gsmartin921@gmail.com.  Contact them with any questions.
