Sunrise Hike/Snowshoe Winter Fun

Hello Winter Fun Seekers,

The next SRWC Winter Fun outing is coming up on Tuesday, February 8th.  Tamara Sutela and Kathy Rafish will be leading a sunrise hike/snowshoe trip at the Virginia Meissner Sno-Park for about 3.25 miles, roughly 2 hours.  This is a moderately difficult trail with some ups and downs.  To reward us all for getting up and moving so early, we will be providing  breakfast & beverages at the shelter (approximately 1.75 miles in) as we watch the beautiful sunrise. Please respond to Tamara Sutela at tamarasutela@gmail.com or Kathy Rafish kathyrafish@comcast.net  if you would like to join this fun outing.

·       Sunrise is at 7:14 am on February 8th

·       We’ll need to start our hike at 6:30 am to arrive at the shelter for sunrise; we anticipate it will take approximately 45 minutes to reach the shelter

·       We’re happy to arrange carpooling for those interested or you can meet us at Virginia Meisner about 6:15 am so we have time to get ready to head out. It takes about 30 minutes to drive to Virginia Meisner Sno-Park from the Sunriver area. A Sno-Park Permit is required. 

If carpooling you must show either a vaccination card or a negative test per SRWC policy. Please note that those carpooling must wear masks regardless of vaccination status.

Once we have you on the list to attend, we will be following up with another email and a few more details and recommendations on footwear (boots, yaktrax or snowshoes) based on conditions.
