MidSoles Hike: VISTA BUTTE TRAIL     change in location  WAS Steins Pillar

When: Wednesday September 2, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Village Bar and Grill parking lot to carpool or meet at 8:30 a.m. at the trailhead. Bring $3 for the driver if carpooling.

Description:

VISTA BUTTE TRAIL. The Vista Butte hike is a short rewarding trail located along Century Drive, just north of Mount Bachelor. It's approximately 4.3 miles round-trip with around 700-800 ft of elevation gain. It's rated as moderate. The trail steadily climbs through a pine and fir forest, with a few short steep sections near the top. The peak rewards hikers with close-up panorama views of the surrounding mountains. The AllTrails starting point is closed for logging so it would be advisable to carpool for this hike. Best hiked May thru Oct.

When considering signing up for this hike, please review the specifics (e.g. distance, elevation gain, trail surface - gravel, rocky, soft sand etc.) to determine if this trail meets your fitness level.

Gear:  Water, snacks, $ for going out to lunch afterwards (optional), hiking poles (optional), sturdy hiking shoes, layered clothing, personal first aid supplies, insect repellent.
