Hearty Soles Hike - Newberry Paulina Horseshoe RESCHEDULED

Newberry Paulina Horseshoe    RESCHEDULED DUE TO SMOKE

MONDAY, AUGUST 26 -  8 a.m.

Meet at Holy Trinity Catholic Church to carpool. We may go earlier than 9 if it's hot. Bring $4 for drivers.  We'll drive up to the Paulina Visitor Center. 

Hike through the forest,  rockfall,  lava flows  and lake views  of the Newberry National Volcanic Monument. This hike, a little more than nine miles with a 1,600-foot elevation gain, starts at the Obsidian Flow Trailhead and ends up at the Paulina Visitor Center. So we will have to do  a short shuttle back to our cars.  Drivers need a federal  parking pass such as a Golden Age one. 

Bring sturdy boots, poles,  plenty of water and lunch/snacks. Keep sunscreen and bug spray  handy, although hopefully this is late enough in the season to avoid mosquitos.
