Black Rock Ride and Work through Women of COTA  - CANCELLED

Date: July 19, 8:45-11:30

Meeting place: beginning of Sun Lava Trail at parking lot near Circle 7 in Sunriver

Arrive by: 8:45 am, Roll out at 9 am, End at 11:30 am (to beat the heat)

Description: We plan to ride and work on the west section of the Black Rock trail. This is

a beginner/intermediate trail with minimal elevation gain. Riding should take about 30

minutes each direction (approximately 2.5 to 3 miles), leaving 1-1.5hours for raking and

brushing. There are a few minor rock gardens that are short and can be easily walked

through. Michelle Brown, a Crew Leader with Women of COTA will lead the work party

(brushing and raking of ~ half a mile of the trail), and will demonstrate her rock garden

skills along the way. It will be a fun ride and an opportunity to see how fun it is to work

with Women of COTA and to contribute to maintaining our trails. Black Rock is actually

in pretty good shape, so a great one to start with.

A helmet is required. Women of COTA may provide helmets that meet both cycling and

hard hat standards, as required by the Forest Service. Bring snacks and drinks.

Leaders: Michelle Brown (COTA), bend.browns@gmail.com, 707-407-7875

Sweeper: Shawn Barrett, shawndbarrett@msn.com, 541-760-9338
