New and increased community programs outside of the school day will be offered to increase student engagement in south Deschutes County in 2023. These include such programs as mentoring, after school and summer activities, and parent involvement. The Power of 50 for Education Fund will be awarded to the newly formed South County Collaborative: A New Initiative to Support and Empower the At-risk Youth of Our Community to accomplish this effort. Because of the strong response and the high interest in our local youth carrying school success with them into the future, we are committed to continuing our ongoing investment in improving the lives of youth in our community through education in the Community Grant program. |
“Focusing on the resources in these pillars was effective in increasing student success when I was a Principal, and for my elementary school becoming a model for other area schools.” Ruby Price, SRWC Member and former Port Orford Superintendent
“These are just the kinds of resources the kids I work with need to stay in school and we have so few of these resources in south Deschutes County.”
Linda Gocke, SRWC Member and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate)
