Thanks to the generosity of our community, the Sunriver Women’s Club is close to our goal of raising $50,000 to target student success! The Power of 50 for Education Fund will be awarded to the newly formed South County Collaborative: A New Initiative to Support and Empower the At-risk Youth of Our Community.
The SRWC and the Collaborative share a common goal of strengthening the network of services benefitting at-risk youth and supporting their school success, impacting engagement in school and ultimately the graduation rate in south Deschutes County.
Resources will be provided in these four pillars of success:
• Mentoring Opportunities
• After-school and Summer Programs
• Youth to Youth-led Activities
• Parent Engagement, Classes and Activities
South Deschutes children and youth have far fewer of these resources than those in other areas of Deschutes County. This opportunity gap limits their engagement in school and success.
We can close this gap and address student success holistically. Make a donation today to begin closing the opportunity gap!
“Focusing on the resources in these pillars was effective in increasing student success when I was a Principal, and for my elementary school becoming a model for other area schools.” Ruby Price, SRWC Member and former Port Orford Superintendent
“These are just the kinds of resources the kids I work with need to stay in school and we have so few of these resources in south Deschutes County.”
Linda Gocke, SRWC Member and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate)
Please promote The Power of 50 for Education Fund to those who share our passion for helping south Deschutes County.
