Paulina Peak Hike CANCELLED DUE TO SMOKE AND FIRE CONDITIONS
When: September 14, 7:45 am – 1:30 pm.
This hike is 6.2 miles out and back with 1,610 ft elevation gain. There are shady and sunny parts of this well-maintained trail with gorgeous views of the Sisters and Bend volcano complex along the way. The top features a 360 degree view and is the highest point of the Newberry National Volcanic Monument.
Meet at 7:45 at Village Bar and Grill parking lot. Please carpool if possible. Bring $3 for driver if carpooling.
If you are coming from south of Sunriver, you may prefer to meet at parking lot on the corner of Hwy 97 and Paulina-East Lake Road at approximately 8:00. Please let the Leader know if you will be meeting us there.
Recreation/day parking permit ($5) or Northwest Forest pass is required to park at the trail head.
Passes are not available at this site.
Directions: Take Hwy 97 south towards La Pine. Turn left on Paulina-East Lake Road. In 14
miles, turn left at Paulina Lake boat ramp parking lot.
Bring: sunscreen, bug spray, hat, water, snacks, $ for carpooling, hiking poles (optional), sturdy hiking shoes, layered clothing, NW forest pass or Oregon State Park parking pass (if you have one).
