Hearty Soles Hike - Hike to South Sister Mirror Lake

Hike to South Sister Mirror Lake located in the Sisters Wilderness Area

When: Monday, October 20, 8:00am - 5pm

Meetup at South Century Fire Station north side.  $5.00 for drivers.  Drivers need a NW Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass for the TH parking.  Parking for the TH is located 1.3 miles past Devils Lake on the Cascades Lake Hwy.  Turn right at a "trailhead" pointer to a small parking lot.

Description:  This hike is a total of 6.6 miles round trip.  Elevation gain is 600 ft.  The trail sets off across an ancient lava flow overgrown with lodgepole pine and mountain hemlock.  After .5 miles the path crosses mossy Sink Creek and climbs through woods hung with the gray-green streamers of witch's hair lichen.  After passing two lovely ponds and breaking out into heather meadows, you will reach a crossing with the PCT at the 3.1 mile mark.  Turn left on the PCT for .1 mile to a fork in a broad meadow.  The PCT heads left along the left side of Sisters Mirror Lake.  This will make a perfect snack-lunch spot, or we can continue to explore other nearby small lakes.

Gear:  water and electrolytes, hiking poles, hiking shoes, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, rain gear, snacks, lunch, $5 for driver, cold beverage for after the hike.  We will have a cooler available.
