October 18, 2022 – Our guest speaker was Carol Brennan from the Upper Deschutes River Community. She shared information about about wildfire evacuation preparedness - evacuation levels, preparing a go bag, preparing the home, and how to preserve important insurance records and financial documents.
November 15, 2022 – Our guest speaker was Cecilia Barrenechea, a pastry chef and chocolatier from Uruguay and owner of Hot Lava Bakery. She shared how she and her family ended up living in Sunriver, their love for the area and the similarities with San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina and the Patagonia region of South America. It was a little bit of her history and her passion for pastries and chocolate!
January 17, 2023 – Our guest speaker was Wendy Meridith, DVM from the Sunriver Veterinary Clinic. She discussed seasonal issues/threats that face local pets including: Winter - antifreeze, ice/snow, particular ligament/tendon injuries; Spring - Mushrooms, giardia; Summer - Cheatgrass, corn cobs; and Fall - Candy, dietary indiscretion around the holidays.
February 21, 2023 – Our program featured our Power of 50 for Education Project Liaison, Val Stensland, who spoke about the factors that lead our philanthropy/fundraising team to choose education as the focus of our anniversary project. She shared information about the state of children and families in south Deschutes County, the opportunity gaps that exist and will show the power of mentoring and out of school time programs in positively influencing educational outcomes for children.
March 21, 2023 – Our guest speaker was Rick Martinson, PhD, Executive Director of the Worthy Garden Club who spoke about the unique challenges of gardening in Central Oregon and strategies that are successful.

The SRWC Annual Meeting and the Celebration of Giving
Members are invited to attend the annual meeting of the Sunriver Women's Club, beginning at 11:30 a.m. SRWC President Debbie Baker will present “A Year in Review,” and the nominating committee will announce the slate of 2023-24 officers and board members and revisions to the bylaws. Members need to vote to approve both items. There is no cost to attend the annual meeting, however members are asked to register in advance to ensure adequate seating is available.
The SRWC Celebration of Giving Luncheon begins at noon, with a buffet lunch served by Marcello’s Cucina Italiana and dessert provided by Hot Lava Bakery. The annual luncheon is a celebration of the club's fiscal support of nonprofit organizations in South Deschutes County. Grant recipients will share stories of how they used the community grants to make a difference in the lives of people living in South Deschutes County.
Registration opens Monday, March 27 and closes Monday, April 10.
Annual Meeting: There is no cost to attend, but registration is requested.
