2025 Featured Artist

Dave Fox is a self-taught narrative artist working in oil paint. His painting, The Destination, was chosen for the 2025 Sunriver Art Fair commemorative poster. Dave draws inspiration from his surroundings, from broad landscapes to simple narrative scenes of everyday life. He tends to use subjects and scenes from the seasons in which he’s painting. Summer in summer. Fall in fall. That differs in late winter or early spring, when he paints the season he wants to be in – summer. 

“I’ve learned to have patience in the painting process,” he says. “The best results are not rushed. I work in multiple layers of paint, letting each new layer interact with the rest. I know I’ve gotten it right when I say out loud, ‘That’s a painting.’”

Dave lives in Bend, Oregon with his wife, children and animal assistants. A bit of a nomad, he has had 25 major moves in his life, including seven years in Berlin.
